Bamboo Chest and Glass by MAK Magic is a classic apparatus magic effect based on the original U.F. Grant illusion. This is a highly visual penetration-style mystery featuring a locked glass of water, solid blades, and a solid pole passing through an impossible space.

The magician displays a decorative Chinese-style chest and a tall glass filled with water. The glass is placed inside the chest and locked securely in the center so it cannot move. Four solid steel blades are then pushed through the cabinet, followed by a solid pole passed straight through the center from side to side.

At this point, there appears to be no possible room left inside the chest for the glass of water. Yet when the blades and pole are removed and the front of the cabinet is opened, the glass is still locked in position. The glass is removed, and the water is poured out.
